Classroom Computers (note to Faculty)

December 10th, 2010 by ekeohane

Dear Holy Cross faculty,

Before you leave for Christmas Break, we wanted to remind you about our maintenance plans for the PC and Mac Mini computers in the classrooms.  As was mentioned back in August, the instructor workstations will be re-imaged and updated during the break.  This means that all local changes will be erased.  This is done to keep the machines up to date, patched for security, and into a stable, known state for the start of classes.  If you have files saved to those machines that you don’t have backed up elsewhere, please be sure to copy them before you leave for the holiday.

When you return from the break and first log onto any given instructor workstation, it will take a few minutes for it to build you a profile; after that first time, it will log in at a normal rate.

PeopleSoft Finance upgrade Thurs 12/9, noon

December 8th, 2010 by ekeohane
Starting on Thursday, December 9th, at noon, Peoplesoft Finance will be down for an update.  It will remain down until mid-day on Friday, at which point a notice will be sent out; this notice will let you know that it is back up, and what steps you will need to take to access to the updated system.  The look and use of Peoplesoft Finance will not be changed significantly by this update, though it will improve the speed of some functions.  Old bookmarks to the current Peoplesoft Finance will no longer work after the update; you will need to go to the Holy Cross Login page to connect.
